Default Problem with Outlook contact notes being truncated

Please Login to Remove!

I am afraid I may be the only person who has this problem becuase of how I store data. I maintain a handful of Outlook contacts with VERY long note fields. For example I have one for each of my cars that lists every service appt we have ever had. It has been very helpful over the years with denied warranties, etc. I just switched from Treo to Blackberry a few weeks ago and was mortified today to realize some of my longest notes have been truncated on the BB and Outlook. I am hoping I can resurrect the data from backups but I am wondering of the BB did this? Is there a limit to how long a BB contact note can be? Can this be changed? if anyone knows I would really appreciate help.

this field is limited in size by Outlook/Exchange. the BB device doesn't care. it's just displaying the data that's there. it's a bad place to save important data.

Default Notes fields maximum Characters

Have you found any more information on this?
I have a user with lots of notes on most of her contacts and when she add new data, she can save and close Outlook, then open Outlook again the data is there, but 5 or 10 minutes later it is gone. That would be about the time needed to sync with the BB.

What is interesting with her is that I believe the limit is not on one particular contact, but if you add the space used by all her contacts Notes fields.

I tested adding a couple of characters to a new contact. The contact, phones, address are saved, but the data in the Notes field is not.
