I am getting the Tour from Verizon tomorrow and I wanted to know what apps I need to get for it and why those are the ones to get.

Congratulations on your new Tour. I got mine this past Friday evening, and I love it. So far, everything is working great except for getting some photos to stay put on my contact list.

I got a tip calculator app as one doesn't come on the BB. I also got a dictionary app that I downloaded to a media card; very helpful when I come across words I don't know the meaning to.

In order of importance (for me)

BB App World - will let you easily find new apps
Google Maps - mapping software
Pandora - streaming music
UberTwitter - if you use Twitter
Google Talk - I only use Google Talk online so I don't have a need for anything other than the official client
Facebook - if you use it
Viigo - news reader - subscribe to RSS and Podcasts
WSJ Reader - some of the webs best pay content, for free, and decent stock tracker.

The apps that are important to me might not be something you need or are interested in. You can take a look through the BlackBerryAPPS Store, link on this page upper left side and see what appeals to you. Also downloading App World makes it easy to find apps. Do you plan to use your BlackBerry for entertainment, or more for business? Or both?

Google Maps is very handy, also Poynt. If you want radio and music, there's Pandora, Slacker, iheartradio, all free. There are some very handy utilities like BBSmart Alarms Pro, which lets you set multiple alarms -- that's a must have for me.

Wirelessly posted (Its All About the U!)

Get insurance for it. Especially if it gets wet.

I don't have any reason to use it for business. I am out of work and in school, so probably just personal.

BB App World to start you off.
I would say Poynt is a must....amazing app for finding people or businesses.
I love QuickPull cause it does a hard reset for me every night while I am sleeping so my phone is fresh for the day.
I got a different alarm since the BB only has the one. I need more than that to be sure I wake up.

Downloading the BB App World & the apps I use on the regular:
Poynt- perfect for finding people, businesses, movies & now they added restaurants & map it.
Weatherbug- weather report in your area, pretty accurate
Pageonce Assistant- keeps balance of your bank, credit cards, cell phone bill, etc. emails you when your bills are due, but only 5 for free, the premium acct is unlimited.
I use my BB for both work & personal. I do check the BB apps world now & then for new apps.

AMEN!!! I made sure when i purchased my phone that my insurance would carry over to it and it would cover anything! We are gran-fathered into the insurance so we pay half of what it cost now. But insurance over the years saved my life.
