I tried downloading a file that someone sent me on my email. I got this message "This is a large file. For information about fees associated with downloading large files, contact your wireless service provider or administrator."

My question is, if I download it, does anyone know if I will be charged for downloading the large file? Thanks.

I think that is directed to folks who have a data plan with a monthly limit. At least I hope so. I'm on BIS plan and and I have one of VZW's "Unlimited" plans (within reason?). So I should be able to download any files I wish to.

I think I have seen exceptions about using the device as a "server" as sorts instead of a phone. Somehow I think people are using these devices to route internet traffic, etc..

For one reason or another 5 GB is what I think they have somehow determined to be a reasonable maximum.

If you're on VZW "Unlimited" plan I thin you should be okay. If you're unsure I would call them and verify. Then post back here so I know if I should expect a massive bill or not!

There is a limit on the size of files you can download. I think it's 2.9 or 3 MB. I don't think it's based on your data plan or carrier, I think the limit is in the BlackBerry OS itself.

There is no separate fee for an unusually large file. Like vf171 said, it's just a warning that you're going to use a chunk of your data allowance (if you have one) for that single file. It's a friendly warning so at the end of the month you don't say, "What the hell? Where'd all my data go?!"
