Default Love my Tour So-Far

Loved my 8830 as well; really thought long & hard why
I should upgrade but then with the Sprint discounts (had
8830 for two years) the cost of the phone came way down for me..

No trackball issues as yet
No battery charging issues yet.....
No long reboots as yet

Whats better with the Tour you ask:

1)way faster phone..web pages load and render much
faster and can actually be read; Google reader on the 8830
was just not very useful

2)media loads way faster..images..photos..

3) Texting is way way better; I find I make fewer errors
while texting; the keys must be more text-friendly designed becasue
the keyboard is smaller than that of the 8830

4)emailing is about the same..no big win here but I'm retired so I'm
not doing bundles of emails daily like I once did

5)3G signal strength...well not so good but I'm going to give it time; I
move around some so I'm going to gather stats on this but as I said
above where I do have good signal the web pages I read load
extremely fast compared to what I'm used to..

6)Battery life...early indications are that the battery life is below that of the
8830 but I've got to use it for a week or two to really see if this this the case;
a hotter processor probably means less battery life for the Tour as my
Tour & 8830 batteries are the same size

One issue I've not been able to overcome is why I don't get an audible
alert for text messages when the Tour is holstered..email & calls just
fine...texts no alerts other than a vibration; is this a "feature" that
will be remedied in the next OS release? Any yes I've fiddled with the
setting under "options"..no ring tones work with texts when holstered;
they work fine when the Tour is out of the holster..

I'll update this post as I get more miles on this beauty..but for now it's
pretty solid..

As for your profiles issue...

Profiles in the 4.7 OS are VERY VERY different than you're used to.

If you search around on here you'll find a lot of posts. Most things are be design even though some people insist they are bugs.

Best bet, make a custom profile to do exactly what you want.

For #6, you should get the "autostandby" app. It puts your Tour into standby after a specified number of minutes. You still get all of your notifications (calls, texts, etc), but it puts your phone in sleep mode (as if it was holstered). You still get the beeps, too.

Before I got that app, the battery life was abysmal. I could barely make it through the day. With that app, I can pretty much go slightly more than a day (I charge my phone all the time, but after 12 hours, I still have 75% of my battery charged.

Thanx SoCali; I'll look it up; the latest OS just released might also help with battery life issues
