Well my task force left Nextel and there is no reason to stay on Nextel. I will change to the Sprint side, but should I get the Tour or the 8830, or just wait?
I am told that the Tour will not run Message Alerts that I depend on, but I guess that I can replace that with the Alert Matrix.
I had heard of all the problems that Tour had with the trackball. What should I be looking for in terms of green dots, date on manufacture etc?
in all honesty and to the best of my knowledge- the first batch was the only one that had trackball and fit/finish issues. Most of those went out via tele sales when the devices were shipped before being available at retail units.
i'd say, if you have to make a pick now then go with the tour - you will instantly see if you have trackball issues. waiting - that and technology hardly go together esp in CDMA world. there will probably be a new device within the next 6 mos.
It is only 24.95 and worth every penny. IMHO. Much easier and more solid that AlertMatrix, I think. I finally figured that if I do a OTA download of the program, it will install correctly and work.
On another note I got the 9630 yesterday and now find that for the first time that using a bluetooth, the phone rings also. Every other Blackberry i have used the phone would NOT ring. RIM tells me that is by design. That sucks for me.
My old favorite BlackBerry was the Bold I used on AT&T. When I jumped to Sprint I got a Curve 8330m, and while I loved the size of the Curve I missed the keypad style of the Bold. Along came the Tour and united both of the aspects of the two devices I loved.
Mine had the trackball issue, which I solved with a simple swap-out for a $5 replacement part. Took me about 7 minutes. My Tour was bought on day 1 and was obviously from that early batch with all the issues. RIM addressed this with different trackballs in the second batch to be manufactured and the issue is resolved.
