No it is instant.
Keep in mind, if you emailed a contact with the blackberry.net address, that will be the default for that contact. You will have to manually select the account you want when you send that contact an email. From that point on, that will be the default account for that contact.
You will have to do this for each contact you emailed from the blackberry.net account.
