Default Sound Profile & Set Ring Tone/Alert Clarification - 10-24-2009, 05:53 PM

All, I just upgraded from a Pearl and am seeking clarification on the sound profile and Set Ring Tone/Alert functions. I see no way to "edit" these profiles as I could on my Pearl when hitting the menu key. I do acknowledge that when I tested each profile by calling my #, they do vary in sound level. Am I correct in noting that the standard profiles (Loud, Normal, Medium, etc.) cannot be customized?

My second question concerns the Set Ring Tone/Alert Customization. For the "phone" option, in setting a numeric sound level for the ring, does that trump the "active profile" setting? What is the purpose of setting a phone level under this option? TIA.

Welcome to the forums. You should update your profile to show that you're now using a 9630, since it still shows 8130.

I agree that the notifications are quite different with the Tour. I believe it's an OS thing, not specific to the Tour, though. From what I've found, the 'Phone' will play a noise in the Normal, Loud, and Phone Calls Only profile.

You can create your own Profiles, too, which may provide the flexibility you're looking for with the way they were handled with the previous device.
