Default Gmail fast-Outlook slow - 10-25-2009, 06:40 PM

I have Gmail and Outlook emails forwarded to the BB. Gmails arrive on my PC and BB at the same time. Outlook emails get to the BB 5-10-15-30 minutes later. I am not on BES and this is not a corporate Outlook. Any ideas? I've only had the BB (my 1st smartphone) for 6 weeks and the wait time seems to be getting worse.

BIS polls the server every 15 minutes.
For gmail this is a little faster, near instant; and for yahoo its basically instant.
This is how it works.
Nothing it "wrong".

Working as designed.

GMail and Yahoo mail and a handful of others are pushed to the device nearly realtime.

POP mail is pushed to the device between 2 and 15 minutes.

If you are expecting emails from your Outlook via POP, you can click on RECONCILE NOW while in your outlook folder on your BB which forces your BB to go and check "NOW"

Reconcile option only really works with BES i believe.

Yep. Reconcile now will not force emails on a BIS.

Thanks to everyone. Gmail is that quick compared to Outlook - wow. Think I'll gain anything by a having gmail pole my non-BES Outlook and report emails to the BB? I have Gmail poling my Hotmail account now.

You know whats quicker (i believe) than having gmail poll other servers?

In hotmail, and most pop3 accounts, you can have it setup to forward a copy of the email to another account.
Therefore, as soon as it hits your pop3 account, its forward to your gmail, which as soon as that happens, is pushed from gmail to BB.
