Default windows 7 and bluetooth - 10-30-2009, 11:55 AM

For the life of me i cant get bluetooth to work after upgrading to windows 7. I downloaded the new drivers for bluetooth from broadcom. I downloaded the update for DM. Desk manager will connect to my phone. But it craps out as soon as I go to sync. it gives an error of "connector specific error"

find a solution to this yet? I am having the exact same problem running win 7 ultimate on a sony vaio z with my 9630-i get connectivity via bluetooth, but perhaps 1 in 10 of my sync attempts works properly. For the time being I have resorted to google calendar sync to avoid having to tether on the go and carry more crap than I need to on a daily basis.

You might check this post at CB about problems with Widcomm/Broadcom drivers. I have read they are not compatible with Desktop Manager. This may be the case in Win 7 also.

How to brute-force uninstall Widcomm bluetooth enumerator - BlackBerry Forums at CrackBerry.com

I could not get bluetooth on my netbook that has Widcomm drivers to work with my BlackBerry.

I tried the method above this morning without success. Even with the Microsoft drivers in place, the bluetooth sync still fails, if not moreso than on the OEM Sony Widcommm drivers as now instead of timing out, I am receiving an error message.

Looks like this is simply a windows 7 compatibility issue. My research has indicated this is a problem on various platforms from Dell to Sony to HP, etc. I am a VERY competent computer user, and it appears that in this case either RIM or Microsoft are going to have to address the issue. Given the number of BBerry users on the PC platform, and the recent successful launch of win 7, this is going to come to a head sooner rather than later.
