Default Is my device toast?

Please Login to Remove!

This morning after about a month of using 5.0.0.230 with ZERO issues my device rebooted on its own and now wont boot back up. The progress bar starts moving but stops right below the B in Blackberry. I have pulled the battery a couple of times with no luck.....suggestions?

I don't know if it's toast. You could always spread some butter or jam over it and surely find out.

All joking aside, I would try re-installing the OS to see if you can revive it.

If your PC will not detect your device, follow these steps and be patient.

Fingers crossed. But it is difficult to ruin a blackberry short of real physical damage. Good luck!

If you are using a micro SD card, remove it and try booting up again.

Awesome.

If you have a backup, restore it. Otherwise you may have lost your data.

I got the error "reload software :552" on my BB Tour 9630 after trying to install a new app from BB app store . Tried soft reset, hard resets, no luck. Have tried the Jl cmder but will not connect and wipe BB clean because BB not being recognized. I have tried instructions posted here in what to do next if JL cmder will not connect & wipe with no luck.

Any other ideas how to get the BB to be recognized by my computer so I can try to reinstall the OS to eliminate the 552 Error?

Default had to share this one

Tonight I received the exact same error message after attempting an update of Quick Pull light (I'll get back to that). In a panic following no less than five battery pulls I rushed to the Verizon store before closing, handed my phone to the store's tech who two hours later handed my phone back to me. He advised the phone was shot and that I could have a replacement delivered on Monday. Two hours without my BB is difficult, three days would be nearly impossible. Knowing the power of this forum I found this thread and applied the software re-install instructions provided. Needless to say I'm back in business. Oh yea, I had to install the software twice after i loaded my 3rd party apps one at a time trying to find the trouble maker. After loading the last app, Quick Pull it immediately crashed again.

I want to thank those useful contributors whose dead-on advise got me up and running.

All I can advise at the moment is read throught the JL_CMDER thread and look for some tricks to get the BB to be recognized. It can be difficult sometimes and you have to keep trying. I have memories of reading different methods, but I'd have to search myself to confirm. I pretty sure you'll find those different methods mentioned in that thread.

Just a question regarding the JL cmdr to wipe your device. I have had to do this twice in the past, once with my 8830 and again with my Tour. In the 'Pre Wipe' section, line number six it says to remove battery. I have never had any luck 'connecting' to device either time with the battery pulled. The only way it would connect is when I replaced the battery. Worked fine both times when I did that. Is replacing the battery what one should assume before the wipe step? Just curious. Thanks

Did you install the desktop manager software that came with it.

Hawk: try using/borrowing another computer with desktop manager (DM) installed. Had to reload the wifes OS today after her BB locked up. Tried using her computer/DM and continually received a "Fatal Error" message. Hooked her phone to my computer using my DM and it worked like a charm. located her phone and installed the new OS flawlessly.
