Default Trouble Syncing Blackberry Calendar to Outlook, Help, please.

Please Login to Remove!

I use the desktop manager (latest version) to sync my BB Tour calendar with Outlook. I want items to go both ways. But what happens is that everytime I sync the BB to Outlook it adds a new calendar item to the BB for any Outlook item. After three syncs, then, I will have three identical items on the BB for the same event. So, on Friday, the BB will tell me "Lunch with Joe" three times. I can't figure out what setting is causing this. Help, please.

I don't have a clue. Out of curiosity, in your example, are the three "lunch with Joe" entries in different calendars, or the same calendar? (Open each entry and look at the 'send using' fieled at the top. Is each one different?) If they are each in the same calendar, are the entries identical in every way, exact duplicates, or is there some small difference?

Also, I'm assuming your still only have one "lunch with Joe" entry in Outlook?

You may be on to something. One says it is the Default calendar, and one says the [email address] calendar. Is there a way to make there be just one calendar?

They are otherwise identical.

And yes, just one entry in Outlook for each calendar item.

Thanks.

First, you need to know that Outlook only sync's with one calendar. Decide which one you want it to be.

On the blackberry, open options > advanced options > default services, and set the default calendar and the default messaging service, and they must be the same. Don't use a facebook calendar or something else as the default. The address you use for CICAL must be the same as the CMIME address.

I'm not sure if the above will be THE fix for you, though. If the default services are not properly set, the symptom is typically that calendar will not sync at all.

Are you sync'ing with Outlook on different computers, or different Outlook profiles on the same computer, or some combination? If so, that may be how you are causing the problem and you'll need to figure out why.

If you are only sync'ing with one Outlook profile on one computer and setting your default services doesn't fix the problem, try deleting the CICAL service books, then do a hard reset, then resend service books, and test.

There were two (maybe three: [email address], [email address], and default) calendars on the BB. I think I have deleted all but one (by eliminating the service book for the one not set as the default), and I think that has solved the problem.

Thanks for the help.

You may want to resend the service books. You need the CICAL service books for calendar invites to work.

For what it's worth, I suggested deleting them AND then resending. The logic is that sometimes people have trouble with calendar NOT sync'ing. And when nothing else works, deleting the service books and resending corrects whatever the glitch and sync works again. Your problem is different, but deleting and resending the service books is something to try if Outlook is configured properly and default services are set correctly.
