Today my phone (seemingly randomly) started to create multiple duplicate contacts. What I mean is, if I have John Smith listed in my contacts, he is now listed 15 or so times. This happened with many, but not, all of contacts.

Further, the first name from one contact was added and merged with the name of the next contact. For an example, I had John Smith listed, and then Jane Smithy listed. Now it reads John Jane Smithy for the entry that should just be Jane Smithy.

I tried a restore from a date I KNOW things were not like this, but it did not in any way overwrite my current address book, as I hoped it would.

Any thoughts? Thanks.

Ok: I was finally able to successfully restore a complete and non-corrupted address book via the advance restore function in DM. Which is the bottom line and good news.

Bad news is that as best as I can tell, syncing my contacts through the "sync contacts" feature for my gmail account was the problem. As soon as I unchecked that box, all problems seem to have corrected themselves and I was finally able to reload a recent address book.

I am running 5.0.0.591, and the problem seems to have developed after the BIS 3.0 deployment.

Lastly, this fix (un-syncing contacts and reloading address book) also restored the FB app to normal functionality (i.e. displaying contact pictures for calls, texts, e-mail, and bbm)
