Default stuck on verizon screen

Please Login to Remove!

Hey, All,

I downloaded the new update onto my phone from version 4.? (I think it was 7, but have no way of knowing now) to the 5.? (my phone prompted me to it a couple days ago). I ran a backup using Desktop Manager (v5.0) yesterday. I then followed the instructions prompted on the screen of the phone, and all seemed to work fine after having to move icons around and such. I deleted a few apps that i realized i hadn't used (deleted each without restarting--probably the first issue). I then restarted the phone and now it is stuck on the verizon image.

I've taken out the SIM card and the memory card and removed the battery, waited a minute, put the battery in again, no dice. I've tried this about seven times.

My computer only recognizes the phone as a removable disk; DM does not show a PIN and the Restore button is greyed out.

Suggestions?

Ok. What is that and how do I do it? I've not done such a thing before.

Can the OS be wiped if it is not recognized by my PC?

I found a link to the jl_cmdr in another thread, downloaded version 1.9.1, but it does not install properly (no where to be found, and the antivirus is off). Does that version work with Windows 7 cmd accessory?

Here's what I figured out (since the above was esoteric):

The following will not load third-party apps, the only downfall, but better than being a brick or having to go to the store for another.

* Device Manager saw the PIN, Desktop Manager did not
* Ran Loader (Program files(x86)>Common Files>Research In Motion>App Loader) note that (x86) is for 64bit systems
* Connected the USB to the computer, but not the phone
* Started Loader (double-click icon)
* Connected USB to phone
* When PIN appeared, clicked next
* Then selected the prompts for restoring to a previous OS version (4.7 since 5.0 is about as good as Vista)
* Once the device was restored to basic, opened Desktop Manager and restored everything to pre 5.0 debacle)
