Hey guys and gals. I'm in a serious bind. I'm out of town and my phone crashed. I have a 9630 and I was texting someone and it turned off. The red LED was on and then it went off and a white screen appeared with very tiny writing that says "Technical Issue Please return to place of purchase for repair." I called tech support and they couldn't do anything. The stores are closed for easter. Am I screwed? Any info would be appreciated.

It seems that this is caused by the Verizon 5.0.0.591 "official" OS release.

Load 4.7 back on to the device to fix it. You will need access to a computer onto which you can install software and connect to the internet.

Otherwise, you will need to get Verizon to replace your device.

Wow. I just typed that error text into Google and many hits came up.

None of it is cool. I'm wondering what could possibly cause that. What is different about 4.7 than 5.0 that would allow 4.7 to run but 5.0 to not run.

And what makes it all the better is that Verizon is pushing this update out to everyone. They're not leaving it for the more tech savvy to find on the internet, they're actually pushing everyone to upgrade.

Right. None of it is cool. It's disturbing to me that it left the shop in the first place.

From what people are gathering, so far it seems like people who are experiencing it are the ones who downloaded the "official" Verizon .591 update from the RIM site or through BlackBerry Desktop Manager.

People who loaded one of the Verizon .591 leaks don't seem to have seen this ... at least not thus far.

I think they are doing this OTA, or so that's what I gather. Seems they are getting messages on their device that there is an upgrade. Not a fan of that. It puts people into trouble that otherwise wouldn't have even attempted it.
