Red face Bought Tour 9631 Problem, please help me!

Please Login to Remove!

Hey members, I just bought a Blackberry Tour 9631 from an online website, and my issue is that after putting in my SIM card from my previous Tmobile phone, this new phone will not get on the Tmobile network. I've been told I may need to have it unlocked, but its weird because, I received a text message from a friend this morning, but I couldnt message back, or make outgoing calls.

The phone does not say "Activation Required" either. So Im not sure what to do. Please give me some input, I would greatly appreciate it.

Welcome to the forums.

The 9631 is not a BlackBerry. Are you referring to the 9630?

Take a look here to see if your device is unlocked: How do I determine if my BlackBerry is "unlocked"? - BlackBerryFAQ

The front faceplate says Blackberry, and I also removed the battery and the model number is the 9631...

Where did you get the device?

Go to Options > About, what do the first three lines read?

You didn't buy a BlackBerry. You got ripped off. Sorry.
I would return it if you can.

Just for the heck of it, I just went to the shenit.com website. Interestingly, their web site is "temporarily" unavailable. They say you can email them if you want to.

Site is working now, and they have a disclaimer listed.
Scary place to do business with, in MNSHO.

Please be informed that this is not an original Blackberry therefore the Blackberry Push Mail service is not available on this phone. It is a similar phone made in China which is the appearance is 99% similar.

Hmmmmm in red no less.
