Trying to understand email nuances

Just started using a Tour and am a little confused about what is happening with email. When I try to send test emails to understand what is happening I cant reproduce the craziness. Maybe someone can shed some light on these questions.
  • Outlook on my computer receives email from my POP account (remove messages from server after download).
  • On the BB BIS page I have the account setup as IMAP and "Sync deleted items checked"
  • On the BB I have "Wireless reconsile" = ON
    "On conflict" = Mailbox wins
"Display new message indicator" = YES

While out if I receive a message on the BB and choose "delete on mailbox and handheld" and then check Outlook when I return the message wont be received by Outlook since it has been deleted from the server (so far so good, no problem).

While home if I receive messages in Outlook (now they are removed from the POP server) and then check my BB it still says I have X number of new unread messages (the ones I have dealt with in Outlook). So I have to go through and "read" or delete the messages to clear the flag so I can tell what is new when I go out again.

Shouldn't the BB see that the messages have been removed from Outlook and remove them from the BB?

Other times (and I cant reproduce it to explain better) there will be a message on my BB. I will receive it in Outlook and delete it from Outlook, but want it on my BB as reference. When I check back later that day it is gone. This would appear to be contrary to the point I made above.

The message indicator light is erratic. Sometimes it is not blinking, but I check the BB and I do have new messages. The other night I thought I saw it blinking (while charging) and the next morning it wasnt blinking anymore (I still had the same new messages). I am using the PW timeout feature and originally thought the light wasnt kicking in when locked, but there are times when it is locked and it is blinking.

Very confused.

The light does not blink constantly until messages are checked.
It will blink for a set amount of time, after which, it stops.

Are you talking about checked on the POP server?

What I am saying is that a message hit the POP server hours ago, but light is not blinking. Now according to your second statement maybe it has stopped blinking.

How do I adjust the time for light to blink (and what is the default time)?

No, I mean checked on your device.
I dont remember what the set time for the light to flash is, but know that it cannot be changed.

So I guess that it is just timing out on the older messages (from the previous day). Like when I saw it blinking in the evening and int he morning it wasnt even though there were old messages.

So that answers one of my questions. Thanks

Any takers on the other parts?

The native OS will flash the LED for 15 minutes and then it will stop flashing. You can use third party software to achieve different functionality.

The BlackBerry device does not sync email with Outlook if you are on a BIS. Any reconciliation that may or may not occur is with the email server not with the email client.

Can anyone recommend a 3rd party app for keeping the LED flashing?
I see several that will flash the LED different colors depending on who sent the email, but none that just keep in blinking on all messages.
