Default Is my phone really done like phone carrier is trying to tell me?

Please Login to Remove!

Hey guys my first post here and I imagine there are plenty like this but just wondering if anyone could help me out?

A couple months back I accidentally droped my phone in a glass of water. Afterwards the phone still worked but the keyboard was screwed. After having it sent to BB they sent it back unfixed due to no warranty coverage.
So what I ended up doing was ordered a new keyboard membrane and fixed it myself. The problem now is when I went back to my phone provider they say they now can't hook it up.

It was hooked up fine before sending it away but now they say they can't for some reason. The phone seems to work perfectly fine now other then my phone provider can't seem to connect it. Any ideas on what is wrong or how I can fix it or is it really garbage now like I'm being told?...by the guys that want me to buy a new phone.

As I understand your phone is functioning? Yet your provider says they cannot connect to their network? Did they say why it cannot be placed back into use on the network?

Yes my phone now appears to be fuly functional.
They were telling me that water damage sometimes takes awhile to fully effect the phone, although I used it several weeks after droping it in the water and they also told me I may have damaged something myself when I fixed my keyboard lol...pretty sure that never happened. It was a fairly smooth and straight forward process.

I can understand that but the timing seems rather convienent. I stil used the phone for sevral weeks after the water drop. It was after I sent it away to get fixed that the reconnect problem has occured. And the phone now appears to be fully functional(everything works)

What happens to the signal meter when you turn the phone on? Does it register any signal? I assume this phone was under contract with the provider that you're talking about.

Damn that sucks then. What also sucks is that I bet if i would never cut it off to switch to a loaner phone i bet it would still be connected.

Really? Cause I did use it for several weeks after I droped it in water. The timing on it just seems suspect. Either way doesn't matter now I guess

I can believe that what others said above is true: that some effects of liquid exposure can take a while to appear. There have been some amazing recovery stories on the forum, but I'm still surprised you got any use of it at all after the swim in the glass. It must have been really soft water.

I actually don't have a water softner and have very hard water. I too was surprised it was working(other then full keyboard use) afterwards but after having it for a few weeks before sending it in, at that point I really figured their was only keyboard damage. I guess not but like I mentioned I just found the timing on it rather suspect. Other then the reconnect the phone works %100. Not to helpful though without connecting lol
