My general recommendation is to use the device as it is when you get it. Find out what it can and cannot do. In most cases, you will find that it isn't broken and doesn't need to be fixed.
How is the device getting a 3G connection? As you noted, it only works on EDGE. Has to be something else going on.
Sorry, I meant it was struggling to keep an EDGE connection, in that it drops to edge and back to EDGE all the time.
I downgraded the phone to version 4.7 to see if this will fix some of the issues. More than likely I got a screwed phone (The entire purchase was a fiasco eBay the wrong wayxxx8230; | Edmonton Tek
More than likely I will end up purchasing a new phone from Rogers and not have to deal with this garbage.
