Default SMS Messages Getting BlackBerry Messenger Icon and Ringtone Alert

Please Login to Remove!

I'm wondering if this is a 5.0 or 9700 bug or not. I've noticed that when some people send me a SMS text message I get the BlackBerry Messenger ringtone alert and icon on the home screen. It's not the actual SMS ringtone and envelope icon. I've also noticed that in the "inbox" sometimes there's an icon of a thought bubble on some messages or just an icon that looks like a phone with an antenna. It's very baffling. Has anyone else experienced this?

I've gotten this too. Kind of annoying. Sometimes my SMS msgs show up in my BBM chat list. Hasn't come up in the past few weeks though. It was more frequent when I first got my BB.

It's from having the contact linked from BBM to the Contacts.

So how do we fix that to keep them separate. I've been racking my brain trying to figure out what the coalition was. I was thinking it was because I was getting a SMS from another BlackBerry user, or from someone on the same carrier.

Would really like to get it fixed.

What I've done to fix it is to delete the entire SMS conversation history. After a few times that trick stopped working for just one number then it started working again.

That's interesting. It also raises another question. Is there a way to dictate threaded SMS opposed to just the regular single messages SMS? Do we have the option to choose?

Highlight the name, click menu, the unlink the contact.

So when you unlink the contact it says:
"Removing contact link to Address Book will also remove PIN information associated with the entry. Continue?"

So I'm wondering by doing the unlink if it takes the PIN out of the address book contact itself. If so that sucks because I sync that information to Outlook.

Yup, that's what it does. Just the way they set it up.

Copy that. Thanks. At least the mystery has been solved, and makes sense to me now.

Now just need to figure out if we can turn the SMS threading off and on, and figure out how to save SMS messages.
