Default Internet 3G Problem Please Help

Please Login to Remove!

Helo,

I need someone to help me with this problem.

I just bought Blackberry 9700 (bold 2) from a local shop here in Brunei. The phone is already unlock (i don't know which service provider do they use to unlock this phone, probably other country carrier that they use). The phone can use for calling and messaging only. The problem is i cannot use for 3G internet like check email or surfing. Does anyone know what is the problem? What should i do? Or can i set the 3G setting manually? e.g APN

Do you think i must buy new unlock code to unlock again using my service/carrier provider? Just for your info my service or carrier is DSTCom.

Please help me.
Thank you in advance.

No, the device is unlocked, as you can make calls.
You need a DATA plan to get internet.

Can you explain what you mean by data plan?

Before this, i use my simcard on iphone and i have no problem at all to use 3g internet. I can browse, email and alot more.

But i wonder why BB Bold 2 cannot connect to internet using 3g. I have unlimited data plan for internet access with my service provider.

You need a BLACKBERRY data plan to receive internet on a Blackberry.
Talk to your carrier.

Please do not double post. The answers will not change.

An iPhone is different than a BB. You need a BB data plan for the BB features.

Please read our FAQ for more information on why you need a data plan.

Hi,

I am also using bold and I am using DSTcom as well. I am able to surf internet, receiving email without blackberry data plan.

First, u have to upgrade your blackberry firmware from blackberry website. Once upgraded, you will get additional setting option on APN under 'advance option'

With APN set, you will be able to surfing internet using opera mini or bolts. And for email, I am using tiggit mail. It works perfectly

If you need more guidance, please do not hesitate to sms me at 8727121

Thanks
