Default Blackberry disconnected from Desktop Manager

Please Login to Remove!

Hi everyone - new to forum

New to Blackberry - I have been syncing Outlook with Desktop Manager for a few weeks with no problems at all.

Today, tried to sync media files using Windows Media Player. Desktop Manager required me to download Media Sync, which I did, but during the installation process my Blackberry Device disconnected. I cannot now re-connect it at all. No idea what I have done wrong. I tried closing everything down, even removed the battery and started again. Still showing device disconnected.

Please help - desperate!

Wirelessly posted

I would try uninstalling DM then download and install the one with media sync built in.

silly question did you reboot the pc?

dm acts funny and sometimes does not do a clean exit and a reboot will fix it.

Thanks for your comments. Actually, I managed to resolve it after searching the internet to see if others had experienced the same problem, so I did not have to re-install the DM again. Apparently, downloading and installing Media Sync to the Desktop Manager resulted in the Windows USB setup file being deleted (eek!). So I had to restore the file (from my laptop to my pc). For others information, this was the file that was deleted:

Usbstor.inf
Take a copy of it and copy it back to this folder:
c:\WINDOWS\INF
Reboot the system.

The USB ports are now fine. I have to confess, I have not yet had a chance to attempt to sync the media files to my device as yet, but I am relieved that it will now connect to the DM again.
