Default Can't Connect to Wifi

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I've just come on holiday in a different country so switched off my data services to save money. Instead my plan was to try and use wifi in the various places I'm staying.

I'm in a friend's house at the moment. I've added their network to my wifi and the phone says I'm connected - it's even got the name of the network on the screen by the name of the mobile network I'm connected to here.

Only thing is, every time I try and access the Internet the phone tells me 'Unable to connect to the Internet. Please try again later'

Can anyone help me out?

It tells me to go to Mobile Network and turn my data services on to access the web... but won't that cost me loads of cash then? The point was to just steal other people's wifi.

ps: sorry if I'm being dumb. Totally clueless on this stuff.

I have been overseas recently and used my BB9700 connected via wifi (it was solid white) to check emails, facebook app, msn messenger and BBM etc. (I had mobile network off while checking emails etc and then turn off the data and turn on mobile network to receive texts)

To connect to wifi you need:

Data Services: on **
While Roaming: off

** Turn it off before you turn on mobile network.

You're welcome.

Well, it didn't counted on roaming international data on my bill, as I had mobile network turned off for roaming charges.

I did have international roaming set up for texting and data on my Blackberry, also the Telstra staff did advised me to use wifi to save $$$ rather than using the mobile network with data on roaming and pay $15 per MB.

So I did checked my account online, no charges for using wifi data (I used 235 MB data via wifi while overseas).

Well, I've set my connection preference to 'wifi only' so hopefully all should be fine!

Orange told me that I needed to have Data Services off while away, but I'm guessing this is more a case of them not explaining things to me properly. Otherwise it was £8 per MB. Owch x

I was having WiFi Connectivity problems all the time, I tried every operating system out there.

only 714 and 680 get WiFi working properly.

But 680 is the best

The best OS I have tested in my lab is 5.0.0.680 which can be found here >>> Best Official OS: 5.0.0.680 (Multi-Language) - DU

It has the fastest speed, good battery life, amaaazing signal strength, and no problems with Wi-Fi connectivity such as the other operating systems.
