OS 6 won't do you much good unless you double the memory. It would take up nearly 100% of the regular 9700 memory.

I assume that if they make it for the 9700 that it will be built and gear'ed towards the specs of the the device and allow it to function and be just as active,

Really? You need to do more research before you make such "bold" statements. I have 80MB free at all times, with apps loaded as well. From 256MB ...that's nowhere near 100% used.

Back on topic;

RIM has the Notify button on the previously paged mention of the 9780.

I'm going INSANE not able to get this like YESTERDAY. I have no phone - don't ask - and I almost upgraded to yet another 9700 today.

I believe it was $150 -$50 rebate. I resigned for 3 years though. No biggie for me.

Love this device guys. Works perfect in conjunction with iPad.

At first glance 9780 looks better than 9700 - even with BB6 loaded. I'm really impressed.

Mini charger that ships with Torch included, along with the better stereo headphones that include a microphone. MUCH better than those Frankenstien's that shipped with just about every other unit.
