Default No Backup

Can anyone help? When I connected my 9700 up yesterday, the software invited me to update my device. As F1 was on, I accepted the option. During the process, it told me that it was backing the device up. After it had loaded the update, there was no backup to restore!! No real big sweat I guess as I seem to have all my contacts (and photo's) but I do seem to have lost all my tasks & memos. Anyone know whether the process might have backed up some of the data but failed to properly name it for the software to find it? I find it difficult to believe that it informed me that it was backing up (said all the right things, i.e. backing up contacts, etc) and took what seemed to be the right amount of time, but ended up with nothing!

Any help would be gratefully accepted!! Many thanks

My expierence is desktop manager automatically does a backup when doing an automatic OS upgrade via the net. No clue what happened in your case. But see if you can find a .ipd file, likely in your my documents folder, and check the date and time. If it looks like it's the file crrated when you did the upgrade, then you could do selective restores of what you are missing, or a full restore, whatever you need to do.

And in the future just run a manual backup BEFORE initiating an upgrade.

Agree with the above. That's what I do just in case.

Actually, the better policy is to do a backup periodically, like once a week. That is what I do.

Ouch... It always worked good for me but as previous posts its wise to backup at least once a week. Also prior to any OS update make sure you do a manual backup so if anything happens you have more options. Pity nothing can be done for what was lost but could be worst...

Smile Re: No Backup

Thanks to you all for your valuable help. I accept that I should be doing a regular backup anyway, but consider my wrists slapped!!
I did a search and thank you guys, I fortunately found another Blackberry Backup folder (called Blackberry Backups!), in which resided a LoaderBackup dated the time that I did the upgrade!
Interestingly the application didn't find this folder to do the restore process from....whatever, I am completely back up and running and will be doing regular backups.

Now......what's this about OS6 ????
