Finally I have managed to put OS6 on my 9700 and get it to work!
whenever I tried to install any build I ended up with a warning at the end of the loading process that some cod failed to install due to invalid digital signature! and consequently "Error 200" when the device reboots!

So I disabled the forced installation of the applications: bbm; memo pad and Tasks during the OS software loading by editing the corresponding alx files in the OS installation files folder setting <required> value to false.

in effect I installed a stipped down OS and it worked. then I went back and used BBSAK to install everything else (I don't trust the desktop manager)

still I have 2 issues and I wish I hear from you guys:

1> does the operator logo; the on that appears after reboot, changes if I have installed as OS from a different Operator. the original OS5was etisalat (UAE) and I upgraded to OS6 Telus (CA) but the logo&default wallpaper is still that of etisalat!

2> did anyone get problems with GPS as it seems BB Maps & Google Maps are unable to obtain a satellites!?

As for question #1, no. The boot screen is not going to change.

Furthermore, you need to understand that the OS is provided by RIM, not the carriers. The carriers only validate an OS for release to their customers. In other words, the OS you get from Etisalat is the same as the OS you get from Telus (assuming the same version number, of course).
