Default How to tell if a Blackberry is stolen?

Please Login to Remove!

I recently purchased a blackberry bold off Kijiji (similar to craigslist..). I had an uneasy feeling during the transaction but regardless went through with it. Never again. I've had the phone for a few days now, and the more i think about it the more suspicious it all seems. I'm not using the phone on a data plan right now.. (which means no BBM) But i've been offered to trade my bold +50 for a torch.

I still feel slightly uneasy, is there any way for me to tell if this has been stolen? IE check the IMEI or pin..

The only way I know of is to call the carrier that originally issued it and ask, or try activating a BlackBerry data plan on it.

It would be through AT&T (well, bell down here..)
If that's the only option then I best find bell's number !

The carrier the phone was originally branded to will be able to tell you.

It doesnt have to be stolen. I change BBs every 1.5 year and pass my old to my sister or relatives. I could well sell it, maybe you just bought from a user who upgraded the phone.

For future transactions, I recommend checking out the FAQ:
