what's the best os 6 for the bold 9700 ?

The one that works for you is the best. A very subjective question.

If your device works as you want and need, maybe you should just leave it alone. OS 6 was not made for the 9700 . Read through the 9700 section and see what people are saying about it before you jump to OS 6.

For me, the second leaked 6.0 version (6.0.0.499) has worked the best for me. The first version crashed my device, and after installing .499, it has worked so well I saw no need to upgrade. "If it ain't broken, don't fix it!"

I'm thinking of going back to a 5.0 version (if possible). It seems like most of the 6.0 versions take up too much memory. Was okay at first, but now I'm using whatever AT&T pushed out and I have to reset my browser cache, or restart my phone every 5 minutes. My biggest gripe is with the browswer, everything else seems to work fine.

Any ideas?

I was dissapointed to lose the available memory after upgrading to OS6. For the most part, the phone worked okay, but lately it started to freeze up or respond slowly when using the trackpad. I recently resolved it by shrinking the OS using BB Boss.

In OS5, I generally had about 100MB free memory. After installing OS6, it dropped to about 50MB upon reboot, and gradually run down to 25MB where crappy performance would be quite significant. After shrinking, I am now starting out at about 70MB free at reboot. I only did the OS shrink a couple of days ago, but so far I'm really happy with the results. OS6 took a little getting used to, but I like it much better than 5.

I stuck with the OS 5.0 version and it just does what its supposed to do.I do not experience screen freezing or memory overflows. I was lucky my friends all went over to 6.0 and i was in no hurry my phone was working so what was the point in upgrading.

You talked me into it I went back to OS5. Why go to 6? Because I could, and wanted to try it. No big deal if you back up your stuff, and not that much hassle. It was a learning experience.

I'm happy to have 100+ MB free now, with no leakage. I did like the look of OS6 better, but for me OS5 belongs on the 9700.

I can upgrade in October though, and right now I'm leaning toward the 9810.

Then when you upgrade you'll have an even better OS6 (OS7 or 6.1 as it was originally called) that works on a phone designed for it. I never upgraded to OS6 because the 9700 just wasn't made for that OS. OS5 runs beautifully and always has.
