Yup i did delete the vendor.xml file.
I didn't have problem updating my torch. Only 9700 is having problem.
It's a t-mobile though.
i JUST had this same problem. Not sure what's causing it because i downloaded 2 different versions of the same OS (leak and carrier official) for my 9700. Downloaded a few times and verified checksums.
I know i had the right files, and they were not corrupt, but i kept getting this error for my 9700 (White) on tmo.
full wipe of device to force a 507 didn't work either. Desktop manager was able to sucessfully load the latest t-mo approved OS on to it, not the slimmed down custom version that i made (and i KNEW would work, as it has on this phone before)
uninstalling desktop manager 6 and 7 and reinstalling didn't work, either.
the ONLY way around this that i found was to download desktop manager 5 (i found links to a pre-release LEAK) of DM5. the loader.exe included with that guy worked for me.
it was a pain in the ass, and i KNOW the os package i wanted to load works, because i did it 2 weeks ago on the exact same phone.
