Hello,

I just got a blackberry 9700. It is currently using OS 5 and I want to update it to OS 6. When I plug it into the the computer and go to applications it says that it doesn't work. Tried Installing somethings but didn't really work out.

BTW I am using a Macbook.

First we need to know why you feel the need to upgrade to OS 6. The 9700 seems to work best running OS 5 from all that I have read.

Second, we need to know what things you tried.

If the OS upgrade you are trying to do is not from your carrier and not showing up as an update when you connect to DM on the Mac, then you need to use a Windows PC or a Windows instance on your Mac.

See the sticky at the top of the 9700 section for a list of the latest OS for your device. You must use one designed for the 9700, not 9780.

The instructions for how to do it are there also. Follow them exactly and be patient. It can take an hour or longer.

And before you do it, read through the 9700 section and see what other members are saying about upgrading and how OS 6 works on a 9700 as compared to OS 5.

The reason I want to upgrade to OS6 is because I like the design better then OS5. When I first used OS6 it was simple, the things I wanted to see where in one place and I felt it was easier for me to use.

I tried downloading the OS from the blackberry website, but as you said it will only work on a PC.

I am going to try it on a PC then..
