Default 9700 OS6.0 Browser Help

Please Login to Remove!

On OS5.0, there used to have three Internet Browser properties, WAP browser/BB browser/hotspot browser.

However, when i upgrade to the latest OS6.0.0.668, only one browser that I can find. It's BB browser that using BES. All traffic goes through company BES server.

There's no option in Browser setting that allows me to switch the browser APN.

How can I use browser via mobile carrier WAP network instead of company BES?

Thanks.

The mobile safari built into OS6 is still able to connect through the various transport options, but selection is done automatically (that does not mean, automatic is better then manually). I Dont know what happend to WAP transport, maybe it is gone with OS6.

read here:
KB23699-Simplified browser selection in BlackBerry 6

about how the decision is made which transport path the browser uses.

If there is a rule built into the IT policy which forces all traffic through the BES, there is not much you can do.

In addition, the mobile safari has less features then the OS5 browser, and, since it defaults to "page view", the redering result maybe looks comparable to the Desktop experience, but its useless for the screen of a Handheld like the 9700.
made me go back to OS5.

Thanks.
This is not good. Some Apps will use default browser to get/download updates which websites might be blocked by BES IT policy. There's no way to switch to local direct GPRS connection.
I have to rely on third party browser for surfing Internet.

But something is strange here:
If you use the default IT policy, and switch to OS6, the effect is rather that most traffic will suddenly go through BIS or Wifi when compared to OS5

It is not simple to redirect all traffic through BES:
MDS browser useless unless you force "Disable other browser services" ?

Are you sure, your data goes through BES ?

you can check that by surfing to:
http://checkip.dyndns.org
This will display your current IP Adress which is seen by a web site.

if the resulting IP is your companys public IP Address the traffic was routed through the MDS. If it is an address associated with RIM it was sent through BIS. If you use WiFi and you are at home you will get your home Routers public IP address as the result.

If you dont know how to lookup the IP address, search in google for "whois lookup"

nobody7290, really appreciate your reply.

i checked whatismyip.com and it shows my company's Internet gateway IP. Seems like all my BB Browser traffic goes through company MDS.

i do not have BIS service, only local carrier GPRS and enterprise BES.

I tried some 3rd party browser app which allows me to choose connection method. It works good to route through local GPRS data instead of BES company website censorship.
