Problems with 32GB MicroSD on 9780
 

I have just installed a 32gb memory card in my Bold. I fist put it in and formatted it. Then i tried to sync my music and podcasts from my Mac, but as soon as I disconnect it I get an error message telling me that there is something wrong with the memory card. I have tried repairing it, but that doesn't help either.

I have also tried reformatting and moving music manually from the Mac to the folders on the memory card, which didn't seem to help either. Still getting the same error message.

I have tought about the memory card beeing defective, but the same problem appeared with the previous 32gb card that I had replaced, so this is actually the second memory card with the same issue.

The phone is a Bold 9780 running version 6.0 bundle 863. And by the way, there are no problems at all using my old 2gb memory card; music syncs beautifully from my Mac with no troubles at all.

Did the first 32gb card work at first and then stop working? Did you format the card on the Mac or on the device? I have read that 32gb cards can be very unstable but I've not used one.

The first card was originally formatted in my Mac. When I inserted it in my 9780 I was told that it needed reformatting. I did, and then I transferred my old data, and got the error message after several different attempts. The second was therefore formatted in the 9780 only.

With this new one I have now successfully gotten some music over without getting any error messages, but it seems as I'll have to move just a couple of albums at the time.

Is this really normal? If that is the case, I am seriously considering going down to 16 instead...

No, that does not sound normal, but what is the class of the card? Class 10 is the highest and transfers data the fastest. If the card is a Class 2 o4 4 it could be very slow if you try to transfer large chunks of data at one time.

Not sure if this problem exists on Blackberry's but some Android phones have problems with 32G class 10 cards and maybe class 6 as well.

I do not know which class it is, but it is painfully slow compared to the original memory card. Seems then as it is unable to cope with large amounts of data beeing transferred at the same time.

That sounds like it might be a class 2 or 4. What brand is it? Sometimes the card will show the class on the front but you'd need a magnifier to see it probably.

It's a cheap generic one from eBay, and that is probably why it's useless...
