Default Any way to toggle off the top section of the touch screen?

It's very annoying, but if you touch anywhere along the top edge of the screen, where the date, time and connection status is displayed, a drop down list appears showing various menu items including Mobile Network settings, etc. At least twice a day, I accidentally "turn off" all connectivity just because I happen to touch along the upper edge a couple of times in a row. I don't realize it until later when no emails and no calls come in. I wish I could just turn off the upper portion of the screen so my fat fingers will quit making unwanted selections by accident.

I have had the same problem. Hpefully they will have a fix soon. Maybe a theme thing, even though I hear that the themes will be very limited in what can be changed.
