I got my first ever Blackberry about 3 weeks ago and I really like it so far. In the last day or so, whomever I'm talking to on the phone is telling me they hear of a lot of static, like popcorn.

Well I noticed the data transfer arrows were on (the diagonal arrows in the upper right hand corner) while on the phone and only while I'm on talking on the phone. Of course they still come on if I'm on the browser.

I guess my question is, are the arrows always on when you're talking on the phone maybe I just never noticed them? Or is something on my phone messed up? Could this be why my connection sounds bad?

They aren't "data" connection arrows, they are "active" connection arrows.
You also see them (well i did because i have a habit of picking my phone up right before a message comes through) when you receive a text, or make or receive a phone call.

Its basically telling you "you are receiving/sending something". Be that data, sms or voice.

Thank you Midnight. Yes, these are normal indicators with the phone. The screen would look much different during a data transfer
