Default Extend Search

Please Login to Remove!

Wondering on my Torch. If I am in the contacts screen, and start searching for a name, the bottom half of the screen shows an Extend Search screen, searching restaurants, device, businesses and Google.

Is that normal or an add on from some software I added? Any way to turn it off?

Extended search is a new feature but RIM reports some bugs in the OS release. No information on a fix in the newest OS release so the issues may be fixed.
The bug reported is it blocks the search.

Is there any way to "adjust" the settings? I have since discovered the search is linked to Poynt. I'd love to turn it off. Any way to do that?

Options>Device>Search and remove Poynt as one of the options for extended search to show? I think this will clear up your problem...

I'll try that too, thanks.

I upgraded from the 9700 to the 9800 Torch and I like the device but noticing because new OS 6 and SEARCH I can not type a contact from HOME screen a name and then Menu, SMS like old devices?

Maybe if I turn Search off from home screen I can? Thoughts?
On old devices from home screen I would type in “MOM” and I could call or track ball SMS right?
