Default Note pad / calendar alarm

I have two quick questions ...
Is there a simple notepad-note taking available anywhere?
In Calendar, how do you set an alarm in connection with an appointment ... such as a wakeup, or a reminder of a tv program.
Thanks

Yes, its called Memopad and should be part of the OS.
You set it to "reminder" and give it a time at which to remind i.e. 15minutes before, setting tone as the reminder.
