| BlackBerry Maps bug Please Login to Remove! I didn't even realize I had BB Maps on my Torch until acrolling thru Applications Management in Options. That is to say, I couldn't find the app anywhere else -- not even as a hidden app.
..I then went to the BB webpage and downloaded it from there. It was then found on the home screen and was able to use it. However, exiting it, suddenly the app icon was gone from the homescreen (and Downloads screen). It was listed in the App Management list, but as before, could not be found.
Redownloaded, replace, rebooted ... same problem after a few of the same scenarios. But eventually even after a few repeats, now the app is not even listed in the App Management list.
Anyone have this same problem? Posted via BlackBerryForums.com Mobile | | Offline

| Not a bug. AT&T hides BB Maps from its customers. It is installed, just hidden.
You can use other free map and navigation apps, such as google's.
If you really want to use BB Maps, there is at least one work around, and I think another. Do a search on AT&T and blackberry maps if you are interested.
EDIT: Ahhh, tbird beat me, and with a link!

| ....that doesn't surprise me all too much about att doing that, as that was one of the first apps I ixne'd, the att maps and navigation app, because it ain't so great....
thanks for the info and link!
I sorta prefer google maps to bbmaps, but two is sometimes better than one. | | Offline

When I first found that BB Maps was not to be found, I deleted it from Options>Applications Management, and then went to blackberry.com and reinstalled it...
Then still not finding it, I brought the query here...and rthen downloaded the launcher...and then noted here the "Uncaught exception:..."
Now, following your suggestion:
BB Maps is not listed per se (i.e. "BB Maps") in App Management. Rather, when downloaded, "lbs_ribbon" is listed. Tried deleting that and re-downloading, same thing: still just seeing lbs_ribbon in App Mgmt and "uncaught exception" when launching "BB Maps Launcher" icon? | You need to download BB Maps if you don't have it listed in your application management.

When going to that page, clicking "download," and then another page comes up with "download" on it, "lbs_ribbon" and "version .9" is listed as being downloaded, and when clicking download, "Downloading lbs_ribbon" is shown, and all that shows up (aside from BBMaps Launch) in App Mgmt is "lbs_ribbon."
I am on OS .284.

| do you have blackberry maps installed??? If not reinstall with your Desktop Manager with your latest OS Look for the BB Maps and check the box,and let the DM install BB Maps
then you can use the BB maps launcher once BB Maps is installed.

It will still not be visable in any ATT theme so you will have to use the downloaded one or switch to it when needed

| It must be the 9800 Os because neither of my 9700's or 8310 would load until i added a non-att theme.
This is a good sign ATT is may be relenting on that TeleNav map software they sell.
Glad it worked for you. Now your making me want a 9800.!!!
