Unhappy Bluetooth Pairing

Please Login to Remove!

Can anyone help. I have just acquired a new Torch and can't get it to pair with my Landrover Freelander 2, (FL2 in the US). I found one recommendation to download the Blackberry Bluetooth Pairing Helper - having done that I get the following message when trying to install it:
"Sorry, your device does not meet the system requirments that are needed to support Bluetooth Pairing Helper Application"

After turning on Bluetooth recognition and setting it to listen, the car ends up finding and recognising the Blackberry Torch but fails to Pair with the phone when I press OK. This is most frustrating as I have had no problems with Motorola, Samsung or my recent Iphone,

Ian

Have you talked to Land Rover? I seem to remember a couple previous issues and the BB user contacted the vehicle dealer to get them resolved.

Thanks for the response. I have contacted Landrover and they claim, as does their website, that they have tested the 9800 (with my OS version) and found it to be fully compatible. Unfortunately, the pairing application that Blackberry developed for problems with Landrover/Ford/Volvo is not compatible with the 9800. It is very frustrating as the Landrover recognises the 9800 on every attempt (and their have been many) but the phone signals a failure to pair. If I can't resolve it soon I will have to drag out my iphone again as handsfree driving is a must with my job - sad because I really like the Torch.

I have the same problem with my new BB Bold 9780 and Freelander2. Connection fails after recognising phome and Bold will not load Pairing Helper, presumably as it is running os 6.0.

My Curve worked after downloading the Pairing Helper, but of course did not bring over the address names, just as others have found - at least the calls came through, though.

Solution: changing the car for a better one with a non Ford Sat Nav (which are awful anyway) and using my TomTom in the meantime - picks up address book properly and gives excellent directions.

Probably no hope of BB addressing this issue, but live in hope. Also get them to fix the problem with the mini Opera browser which will not run in os 6.0. If my Curve had not given up its screen I would go back to it..

Unfortunately I use the LR2 a lot off road and I would be loathe to give it up, in fact I am considering upgrading to a new Discovery which won't sort my Blackberry problem. It just annoys me that Landrover advertise compatability with the torch and the new operating system. I am sure you are right and it is a problem with OS6 (as well as the lousy Ford system). In the absence of a fix I am back on the IPhone again having invested in a 2 year blackberry contract with my service provider - there is a lesson there somewhere.

I blame BlackBerry here. The pairing problem with Land Rover, Volvo and other Ford Sat Navs was known as they had a (Pairing Helper) fix for it with the older phones. In os 6.0 on the new Torch and Bold they tried and failed to integrate this and the Pairing Helper will not load. The car software sees the phone but then tells you the bluetooth is off - how on earth did they not check this out?

Need some help here please, Mr Moderator.

My Bold (os 6.0) now pairing with Land Rover, including address book. Apologies for earlier posts, BB!

Problem was not setting BB keys to NUMERIC for the pairing code - default is alpha. I deleted prior pairing (bluetooth on menu) before re-pairing.
