Default Dust under the screen... :(

I have been using the Torch since it came out. Dust has slowly been accumulating under the screen (as far as I can see in multi-levels). A real bummer...

I have noticed the same problem with two other Torch's that belong to two friends (i.e. "3 out of 3"), so I suspect it may be a common problem.

Anyone else having the same problem? Anyone have any idea as to whether something is being done? Or will the 9800 series go the way the 83xx series went (all of the 83xx used to get dusty, left shamefully untouched until discontinued)?...

Call your provider - its dust seals are covered by warranty (Materials and Workmanship)

They some require you to ship it to them and MAY provide a loaner. The smarter providers, ship you a refurbished unit (like new) and when you get it, pop your SIM in and ship the old one back.

Thanks for the response. But judging by the fact that I have 3 units around me that have started to develop dust specs under the screen, I am not sure this is an isolated case, and as such am trying to see if others have suffered (or suffered and "noticed") the same phenomenon.

So if I may, I wish to ask again: Has anyone seen dust particles "in" the screen? The best way to see is to look under light, when the screen is off.

I have noticed same ... Haven't worried much about it yet. Nice to know I can get a replacement at some point. Sort of wondering about taking it with me to Burning Man tho with all the playa dust though (for camera/video needs)??

Thanks for the response... I am not sure the ability to get a replacement will be much consolation, as I am afraid the replacement will go the same way in a few weeks under same usage style, that is of course if it is a design flaw as I suspect it is... Remember that RIM never rectified the 83xx series until it got replaced by newer lines.

And if this is indeed a design flaw, I doubt they will agree to replace all units, it would not be economically feasible for RIM to do... I do not believe they did it for the 83xx series.

Anyway, I suspect there are other blessed members who have the dust but just have not yet noticed (in this case ignorance is indeed bliss, it does spoil the joy); if anyone else notices it, please post.
