Default Defualt to mobile site.

Please Login to Remove!

Any way to set the brower to default to mobile sites? For example, when i go to weather.com it defaults to the regular site, not mobile, but id MUCH rather have the mobile site (its much quicker and to the point, alot of forums are the same way). Thanks!

weather.com should redirect to http://mw.weather.com/. If you are running OS 6 that may explain why you aren't. So try pointing your browser to that address and bookmark it.

I don't know exactly. I've seen complaints from some about the opposite of your issue, the OS 6 browser redirecting to mobile and not going to the full html site. The argument in the complaint is that since the OS 6 browser is fully capable then the sites should not redirect, but instead the sites still see it as a mobile browser and do so.

If that logic is correct, then apparently the weather.com site is sophisticated enough to not redirect. But I don't really know.

At any rate, in the future with other sites, if you want mobile and not full html, look for a link to the mobile version of the site. It depends on the site, but some will remember you selection in a cookie and take you there the next time you connect. Otherwise, bookmark the mobile address instead of the address of the full site.

You will see in the following thread where others have grumbled of the opposite behavior.

How to stop BB internet from using "mobile" version webpages??

Just impossible to please everyone I guess.

By the way, I tried mobile.weather.com and it still works. Different layout, better for those with small display.

Yeah the only reason why id like the mobile version is that its much faster and to the point (on forums and weather etc)... cant please everyone is correct, just wish it was a option.

I sort of agree with the preference for mobile versions. I like the mobile sites better, usually, because the layout is simple, uncluttered, and loads faster.

yeah i agree with you...surfing mobiles sites on the Torch is so much fun. You get all the info you need incredibly fast and even the mobile facebook site is a hundred times better then the one designed specifically for the torch.

I wish all sites would redirect straight to mobile sites. Like google for example. I had to manually bookmark the mobile site for google as the desktop version is completely screwed up when performing a picture search. which i do often.

I even did comparisons with my friends iphone4. we did crackberry in full form on his shmIphone and the m. version on my torch and we chose a specific destination deep inside some forum entry. I got there twise as fast as he did with no caching. Nothing beats mobile.

sorry...i got a little excited here lol.

You know I was repeating the argument that's been put forth by others, not me, right? Anyway, hope the keyboard or the BlackBerry didn't get spewed.

THere you go, google is a great example. the mobile google is SO much better. but it defaults to desktop and i have to zoom in etc and the picture search doesnt even work. i really think in that case its the phone / browser blocking the mobile site and not the site its self.
