Default Smileys in SMS - WTF?

Please Login to Remove!

Tried the search, everything I could find on this topic seems to suggest the exact opposite of the problem I have.

I have a 9800, os 6.0.0.448. I recently had an issue with my signal and the Rogers BB tech support said reload the os, etc etc. Before I did this I had no problems sending and recieving URLs via SMS. Now that I have reloaded the OS(same as before, just did a reload) The phone seems to like to replace characters in the link with corresponding emoticons. I like emoticons as much as the next man, but I like recieving and being able to open links better. Any suggestions as to how to turn off this "Feature"?
