Default Flashing LED when charging

Please Login to Remove!

How do,

Does anyone know if it is possible to turn off the flashing light when the unit is charging? It is really annoying when you’re trying to sleep.

I know I could charge the phone in another room or turn it over, but I'd much rather disable the LED when charging completely!

Thanks in advance.

Nope. Only other way [besides the 2 you mentioned] is to leave the phone on and charge.
Charging LED only appears when off.

Set it to turn on the clock while charging, then select "enter bedside Mode"

Yep. Entering bedside mode is the way to go. You can disable or enable certain features (including the LED) when the phone automatically enters bedside mode when it's plugged in to charge. Very nice.

Thanks CK

Start the clock app, then bring up the menu. Select options. From there, browse around. You can set the clock face (I use flip clock), determine what the phone does when charging (set it to enter bedside mode), and set what happens when the phone is in bedside mode (scroll down a bit and you will see the bedside mode section of the options). I have mine set to disable the LED and change the profile to phone calls only.

Good luck.

Yep thanks. Had just found it using the Help on the phone - I just assumed it had to be in profiles or options, but I was wrong ...again!!

I hate the clock, but the flashing LED amuses me. It only appears when the phone is off, so it lies in wait for the unsuspecting new Blackberry user who has just discovered auto off mode. They awake to find the whole room flashing, or just glowing if the battery has finished charging.

What's the difference between "show clock" and "bedside mode"? They both display the clock. And do any of these settings apply once the phone has turned off?

I've been turning mine upside down for years. Was it the 8800 that had the LED positioned at the top so that turning upside down didn't help? I might be misremembering that.

Show clock, shows the clock.
Bedside mode can be set to turn off the radio [mobile network] and other options, so its like off [unreachable] but shows the clock.

No, when off [power off] neither work.

Bottom Line - do not use Auto on/off - ensure that you are set to go to bedside mode (not show the clock) when charging - then adjust your settings to disable the LED (and radio if you wish) while you are in bedside mode. I also set it to dim in bedside mode so it's not as bright and the buttons aren't illuminated.
