Default Touch Screen, Hyperlinks, and Problems

I hate to post a new thread, but I did not find this issue posted.

Torch 9800, V6.0.0.526 Platform 6.6.0.195

The issue has always been present on this phone.

I receive some Tweets directly to SMS (deliberately).
These Tweets often contain Hyperlinks, some of which have been shortened using Bitly or a similar service.

Many of these links can be launched by touching the link, but just as often, this does not launch the link. Sometimes this process will not even highlight the link.

I can always launch the link using the track pad, even those previously highlighted by touching the screen that may not launch; each will launch when I select the track pad.

So, in short, using the touch screen, links often do not highlight, or they highlight but do not launch. All links "touched" using the track pad highlight and launch. Some links highlighted by touch screen do not launch, but will always launch from track pad.

Does anyone else see this issue? Is there a fix? I am a long time BB user (years and years). I could go on and on about how RIM doesn't seem to understand software (just look at the browser, for crying out loud), and this feels like a software issue.
