ok, so i updated my OS from .448 to .526

however, i am presently in a country that doesnt have EDGE or 3G, only GSM. when i try to use BBM, BB Protect, Whatsapp or my email, i keep getting an error that i am not registered on the BB Network. now normally, when i am in this country, i use WiFi for data. not going home for a couple of weeks. is there any workaround so that i can login to the BB Network to start back receiving data?

Based on my experience, which is not exactly like yours, I think you are out of luck until you get home. Some of the BB apps, AppWorld for one, seem to need to know what carrier you are on. Like you I use Wi-Fi exclusively when I travel. I have noticed that AppWorld will not work with Wi-Fi only (data services off while roaming). I think that is because of various agreements RIM has around the world. They need to know what carrier's system you are using. In my case I was in AT&T land so I couldn't download BlackBerry Bridge from AppWorld until I got home.

I think the lesson is don't upgrade your OS while travelling. I'm sorry that doesn't help you.
