I think that this must be a common issue, but I haven't found a clear solution.

I have a new Torch. I want to use it with my company's BES email/calendar/etc., and with my personal gmail account, also with calendar, contacts, etc. I would love to have the two integrated, so that I can go to a single spot/app to read and reply to all my mail, but that is not critical. I'd like to have my new email and upcoming calendar appointments show up in the notification summary at the top of my screen.

I've tried the things that I thought would work, and seemed obvious. I configured my corporate BES and gmail as email accounts, and turned on all the synchronizations. When I read email on the gmail web interface, the fact that my notes are read doesn't make it to the Blackberry. I tried the gmail app. It's fast, but doesn't provide notification, nor calendar access. I've tried running Google Sync. I've added my Google calendar to the Blackberry calendar app. Sometimes email and appointments propagate across my accounts and devices.

Is there a standard solution? How does everyone else configure their Blackberries to handle gmail and corporate email simultaneously?

First of all, I never recommend putting your personal device on a company BES. The company can , and many do, lock it down tight and limit what you can and cannot do. Their IT policy may preclude you from using gmail and to connecting to your PC to sync calendar and contacts.

You really should talk to the BES Admin about the company polices, etc.

You also need to understand what the company can see about your use of the device.

Everything still applies and the company can lock it down if they wish.

BES - Blackberry Enterprise service - corporate email, etc.

BIS - Blackberry Internet Service - personal email, etc.

Yes - it still applies, but it's not relevant. My phone is not locked down that tightly. The apps allow me to access gmail. However, the different synchronization apps appear to interfere with each other.

Using a Blackberry to access both personal and corporate email and calendar is common and reasonable. I'm quite surprised that it doesn't simply work, and I suspect that if I used the right combination of apps, it would.

As I originally asked - is there a standard solution to this?

BES on Outlook/Domino works great with Google Apps, I'm not sure about normal GMail's calendar integration though.
I've been using it about 10 months, but I'm not syncing contacts with Google, I have my contacts syncing between my work mail and Google so if I synced in the Google Contacts as well as my BES contacts I'd be duplicating them.
