You could select show hidden and look for it.

Alternately, you could copy your files from internal storage, format it, then move your stuff back, right?

On my 9800, when connected in USB storage mode, one of the volumes is labled "BlackBerry User Tools" and contains a file called Start.exe (icon is the BB dots logo). 13MB in size, running it starts the installation process, which IIRC connects to RIM to download the latest version of the Desktop Manager.

The other partition would be your SDCard, if you have one.

My internal memory shows 2.63GB of 3.68GB used. I keep my BBM Music files and some other stuff on internal memory. The SDCard shows 669MB of 3.72GB used (only podcasts and pictures on there). Make sure your SDCard is fully seated in. I've had some users not push them in far enough to make the connnection.

With no SD card inserted I have the following
2.5GB internal storage total and as you say there should be 3.68 or so
So my question is how do I recoup the rest

That's a stumper. Unless there is something about your PC not understanding, or not being able to fully address FAT32 devices. If you're seeing 2.5GB as the total size of the drive then there is definitly something amiss. Your Torch wasn't a refurb unit or anything like that was it? You may have a warranty issue that you need to take to Telus, then convince them you need to be passed up to RIM.

Well you can try formatting it:

Options -> Device -> Storage

Menu -> Format

Select Built-In Media
