I have an unlocked 9800 torch and when I try to play videos on youtube (the app included) I get an error message. How can I fix this?

Do you have a legit BlackBerry data plan on your account? You need real BlackBerry data to use the YouTube app.

Yes, I have a plan with t-mobile. And my blackberry curve played videos without a problem. I got this torch from a friend and unlocked it. Youtube seems to be the only site giving me problems

That actually sounds like a network issue. You may be trying to access data in an area where the data connection is too weak or is nonexistent. Does this happen everywhere, or just in certain places?

I imagine you have cleared the browser cache and cookies, tried a hard reset......But if not, do it and then try again.

Otherwise, I don't know. Some people have had trouble with youtube and tried everything. You can search and see for yourself.

Is the 9800 supported on the T-Mobile network?

The problem lies in the 3G ban, since T-Mobile uses a 1700 Mhz 3G network that is specific to them. The BlackBerry 9800 does not support 1700 Mhz 3G services, so there will be no 3G functionality. Since the 9800 does support an 850 and 1900 MHZ network, you maybe able to use the device on T-Mobiles NON 3G 850/1900 wireless networks.

Too slow a connection to stream properly. Sounds like the answer.
