Torch can't originate sms msg
 
I am a new user that has been given a Torch 9810. I am trying to use it without setting up the BB specific features at this time. I can make normal calls and am presently roaming on a Chilean network.

The difficulty is that I can originate SMS messages. I can receive and respond to SMS messages sent to me, but can't originate one from this phone. I've checked all the security and blocking features. None of them is set and although this is a company phone, no IT blocking is evident. It's hard to believe that its a network plan or limitation from the local network as I can respond to an SMS msg.

Fixed call is disabled. Any thoughts?

What carrier's SIM card is in the device?

ATT Wireless SIM, supplied with unit. The unit has been recently reset with the service provider and assigned a new number.

It sounds as though the SIM is not properly provisioned for roaming. You will need to contact customer care to ensure that the device is provisioned for global roaming. Normally they require one to be a customer in good standing for at least 90 days, but they will make exceptions if your credit is good.

Make sure you have SMS service enabled and properly provisioned as dc suggested above.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to wait until I return as I don't have my account details with me. ATT won't talk to me without that info.
