hi everyone

I encounter problem of upgrading the firmware for the Bold 9900 in windows 7.
The firmware that i try to upgrade to is 9900M_PBr7.0.0_rel2290_PL5.0.0.694_A7.0.0.540_Voda fone_UK

I have deleted the vendor.xml but still cant upgrade. the loader only detect the program that is install in the phone instead of letting me upgrade the phone.

Do you have a SIM card inserted in your device? Can you confirm that the OS is specifically for your model. Your profile shows 9780 and there is no OS 7 for that model, although your post does say 9900. Please update your profile.

There have been several problems updating to the latest release. Are you following the instructions for OS7 updates? I recall there are a couple other places to delete the files. Maybe try a search and see if you can find it?

You probably didn't delete the second, hidden vendor.xml file.

Open the Command Prompt on your computer.
Type in this command. dir /a /s C:\Vendor.xml
Note the location(s) of the file(s).
Delete them.
Try the OS again.

Did you type the command in EXACTLY as I typed it with the spaces (and lack of spaces) in the correct places?

I have seen this one before. What I ended up doing, was simply uninstalling and re-installing both the DM and the update file on the PC, (rebooting during the uninstall /re-install process) and that allowed me to update successfully. It happened to me just recently during the 7.1 upgrade.
