Bold 9900 - Contact Birthday Reminder
 

I was very chuffed to see the tabs for birthday and anniversary dates under each contact.

But I don't know what I'm missing, but I don't get alarm reminders for the birthdays of such contacts ?

the simple method is to do a clendar add with the date and set the reminder where you want 1 hour to multiple days.

I dont find a method of notification directly from the contact add.

I thought that must be the case. Just senseless to add the birthday and anniversary to contacts but not giving it a reminder function added to it. Stupid really. Thanks a lot

Still no update / change on this ?

Checked my wife's BB Torch again, you add a contact and it automatically adds a calender reminder for the birthday straight out of the contact.

i have been using BlackBerry since 1.5 years now

i had 9700 to being with and then a Torch

and yes I agree earlier when i used to have birthdays in my contacts... it used to be automatically added to the calendar


why???? then the os was 5 and 6 maybe

is it an OS 7 shortcoming? i am 100% sure like this guy mentions here about his wife's Torch - that dates added in contact - birthdays and anniversary would show up as calendar reminders automatically

so now the little cumbersome workaround... i guess it's because sync of contacts from earlier back is causing an issue

if we would manually enter our contacts, it wouldn't be a problem...

but if you do not have too many contacts or at least not too many important people who's birthdates you want to automatically show up...

try this workaround

1) go to your contacts section and choose a particular contact

2) click the blackberry / menu key and EDIT that contact

3) Scroll down through to the Birthday / Anniversary section and Select either of them and do - DELETE FIELD

4)Save these changes

5)Go back to Contacts - Select Same particular Contact - EDIT

6) Add a date to the birthday field and SAVE

7) now when you go to your calendar - you should have the entry automatically

works on my 9900. do lemme know

i think when we sync contacts from our backup of our old BlackBerry when we buy a new BB... the SYNC Field Mapping might have to do something with it? i am just guessing. i am a novice. But can this be fixed right at the root? while synchronizing contacts?

Is there anyway to change the time of the reminder from the default midnight, because being waken up in the middle of the night with a birthday reminder ain't much fun either !
