It won't do much for battery over previous releases...none really do.

Maybe we forgot to let it settle down.

Bwahahaha. Nope, no improvement in battery life.

Just updated. Shrank it first. The backup / update / restore process took around 15 - 20 minutes. The desktop synchronization was stuck at 0% for quite a while, so I rebooted. The second time, it took off right away and climbed steadily until 52%, then it got stuck again. I was going to reboot again, but I accidently cancelled the synchronization and it didn't restart when I rebooted. Now I'm stuck until I can get the IT department to send me an activation code. Oh well.

The IT guys sent me an activation code. I guess that's the good thing about head office being in Europe. It stopped at 52% again for what seemed like forever. I guess I should have been more patient the previous time because it eventually moved past whatever it was doing and completed. I'm up and running on 7.1.0.342 now.

Installed 342 yesterday and charged my 9900 last night for 11 hours. Unplugged it this morning and after 7 hours I am down to 51%.

I installed .342 today and it appears to be working fine.

Is there any reason why the thread stuck at the top of the General Bold 9900 Series Discussion, which supposedly is about the latest official OS 7.1 for the Bold 9900, was ever stuck there in the first place as it only has links for OS 7.0? I think it has been sitting there since January!!
I have been a loyal supporter of this forum for many years, but I must say I am becoming increasingly discouraged about the maintenance and updating of Blackberry.com
